SAD DEATH OF NEVILLE KING

Some very sad news - retired trainer and East Anglian pointing stalwart Neville King was killed in a car accident on Friday May 11 at the age of 79.

His best horses were Prepotent, who won five times in 1967, and the nine-time winner, Kula. His daughter, Lucy Gibbon, won the national lady riders championship in 1980 and 1981, and his granddaughter, Amy Stennett, is also a winning pointing and hunter chase
jockey.

Neville remained heavily involved in the local pointing scene and for the past few seasons has been one of the judges for the popular ‘Jockey Of The Month’ award.

The thoughts of everyone at PointingEA.com are with his family, in particularly his widow, Evo. A memorial service will take place at Whepstead Church on the afternoon of Tuesday May 22 at 2.30pm.

The annual East Anglian Awards Dinner and Dance will take place at the same venue as last year, Hall Farm Barn in Thurlow, on Saturday September 15. Please make a note in your diaries - further details can be obtained by phoning Mel Sharp on 07714 263601 or Amy Stennett on 07771 526132.
