Pony races - Marks Tey 26th February


The East Anglian Pony Racing season got underway at Marks Tey with the two qualifying races seeing some new combinations out for the first time. Experience came to the fore in both races with the Kent raider ,Churchill ridden by William Reckert (12) , coming home in front of fellow Kent rider Fergus Head on Calelvador Shamio and Charlotte Ingleton on Charlie third for the locals in the 138cm race.
In the 148cm division the field was well spread out from the start of the 8 furlong 7 runner race. Fitzwarren Field of Dreams set a fast pace, but last years champion, and favourite, Doppio Moviemento, well handled by Jack Andrews (15), always looked threatening and found another gear to win easily up the hill. Fitzwarren ridden by 14 year old India Taylor was second, and Tricky Vicky ran on well to be third under Charlotte Wyatt.
